What The Pros Are Rockin’
Name: Jussi Oksanen
Age: 24
Sponsors: Burton, Smith, DVS, MAKIA
Years snowboarding: Twelve
Home: Kirkkonummi, Finland
Height: 5’8″
Weight: 165 pounds
Stance: Regular, 22 inches wide, with fifteen degrees of angle on the front foot and zero degrees on the back.
Forward lean: Just enough to give you a little support.
Board: I’m riding the Burton Jussi 159 ($470) in everything, park and backcountry–and sometimes I ride the Jussi 154 ($470) for jibbing and just cruising around. I love both of them.
Boots: Black Burton Ions in size nine ($300).
Bindings: Burton C16s in black ($350).
Personal settings: Basically, all my stuff is stock, which works perfectly for me. All I need to wear is my own insoles–they give you a nice extra support and keep your feet really comfortable. Also, I put my ankle straps as high I can to give me some support there.
Tuning techniques: When you get a new board, the edges are always a little off, so it’s good to give them a tune–dull them a bit so you won’t catch up on the first run.
