10 Questions: Scotty Arnold

Scotty spent another winter traveling from his bachelor pad in Park City, methodically putting together the shots for his Mack Dawg part. He stopped by the offices today with Salomon TM Alex Pashely and we had some words-not like rap battle words—just a little friendly exchange.

1. Where did you film this winter?
Minnesota, Mount Hood, Utah-lots of driving.

2. Who was your main crew?
This winter it was Darrell Mathews and Aaron Biittner, and Hampus and Jakob in the spring at the park shoots.

3. What was your best trip this winter?
My best trip was probably to Portland. They had this step-up jump with a gap at Mt. Hood. It was Andreas, Hampus, Jakob, and Jeremy Jones. They had snowmobile shuttles and it was after hours with the sun setting.

4. Did you have a worst trip?
No, just all the rail trip are so long, in the van scouting …

5. Well, it’s all over now, what are you doing this summer?
I just want to surf and skate and chill this summer. Park City has a new extension in the concrete park I want to skate when I get home. I might go to Japan with the Mack Dawg film tour-actually, I’ll probably be doing a lot of traveling with that. And I have a Scotty Session at High Cascade.

6. What goes on during the Scotty Session?
We have a rap battle-the kids battle each other and then the winner battles me and the winner wins my new Salomon pro model. Pashley (Salomon Team Manager) usually has a bunch of strange stuff planned like give-aways and contests. Last year, kids were drinking maple syrup out of tighty-whiteys for free product. The kids also all get tall-T’s during my session.

7. Any advice for kids who want to do battle with you?
Bring your A-game.

Check it out, the dates are June 25-July 3 at High Cascade

8. What’s the story with your 07 Salomon pro model graphic?
It’s a picture of me with a facemask with a grill. It’s a play on a Young Buck album cover.

9. Speaking of rap, do you get to pick your music for your part again?
I didn’t get to do it this year. It gets harder and harder every year with music rights.

9.5 So, no Scotty rhymes this year?
No, I just haven’t had time-it’s just for fun you know. But this winter, I’d be riding the chairlift in Park City and kids would sing the song to me. It was crazy.

10. Are you going to help with editing?
Well, right now, Brad (Kremer) is still getting the parts together at his house in the woods. It used to go down at Mack Dawg’s house at the beach, but, now we all go to the house in the woods and sit down with Brad in the dark for a couple of days.

Check out bits and pieces of Scotty’s winter on the Mack Dawg Blog, www. mackdawgproductions.blogspot.com or just come up to camp next session at High Cascade and hit him with your own ten questions.
