Opening Day: Loveland, CO

The season in Colorado has officially kicked off with the opening weekend of Loveland Ski Area. Our crew consisted Chad Otterstrom, Java a.k.a. “The Indian”, Nic Drago, and myself. We all got up fairly early, and met up for breakfast at the Blue Moon in Silverthorne. After waiting for Drago to finish his sixth cup of coffee, we were ready to head to Loveland! We arrived and were instantly greeted by tailgating dudes with a full-keg peeking out the back of there truck … good stee. So after a hot minute posted up at the keg, we made a dash for tickets, (thanks to Loveland’s marketing staff) and walked over to the lift lines.

It’s opening weekend, and surprisingly we didn’t wait in a line once all day. I don’t mean to get hippie on you, but there was a good vibe going with the crew … everyone was so stoked to ride since we hadn’t strapped in for a while. We all made it to the top, and after Chad shoved me into the snow, we dropped in, “sendin’ it” off every little wedge, hip, bump, cutout, tree bonk, and rock that we could find. Just before the bottom, there was an eighteen foot box followed up by a flat up flat box. It was so much fun I ended up vomiting everywhere, and if you haven’t vomited from fun, you don’t know what you’re missing. Chad’s an O.G. and if you’ve missed ten years of video parts from Whitey and Mack Dawg, it’s not bad getting to watch Otterstrom do whatever he wants all over Loveland’s features. We took advantage of the line-less lifts, and lapped Loveland all day.

Later on Unity owner Pete, and Pat O’toole shop owner of Emage a.k.a “Jean Guy” rode with us the rest of the day doing tail slaps, high fives, and kamikaze dives. The weather was greybird, but no one cared since this was first day for everyone. To sum it up, Loveland came through on opening weekend, puttin’ us on our snowboards. And for those of you who are more than a day away from strapping in, I feel you … but check the video for a quick fix until winter hits you!

Special shout out to Loveland Ski area for the good time, the tickets, and the first day out of the way.
