On the men’s side of things, the standouts were Lucas Magoon Son, Chas Guldemond, Danny Davis, and Jonas Carlsson. The trick of the night was Lucas Magoon’s gap to 50-50 backside one out on the Dragon ledge. He’d previously gapped to straight 50-50, followed by a nice tailblock on the quarter, to a frontboard 270 out on the down box. Nice use of the course by Magoon. Kevin Pierce McTwisted into a shared 2nd place. Noticeably, and questionably absent from the standings was Chas Guldemond who powered through a McTwist on the QP to a bombdrop 270 off the dragon ledge … and he was the only rider to really clean up the down flat down rail with a 50-50, frontboard to fakie. Danny Davis was pushing Haakonflips and backside 9s, local favorite Andrew Stewart snuck in a nollie frontflip after getting beasted in the qualifiers, or as Dingo put it, “getting hit by a Mack Truck. Jonas Carlsson melted a high-speed gap-to frontboard up to the top portion of kinked rail to 450 out, which really pleased the huge crowd. Lot’s of riders rode away thousands of dollars richer even without placing thanks to the unique ‘winner every fifteen minutes for the hour session’ format. A 41,500 dollar chunk of cash was doled out tonight. Stay tuned for the Saturday night men’s slopestyle—we saw Kass and Wiig warming up today.
